'TIS THE SEASON FOR TROUT . . . The trout action has held up well over the past rainy weekends with the best baits being rainbow power bait, night crawlers and the variety of lures, with Thomas buoyant and small gold Kastmasters proving best. Pier #3 and Trout Cove areas have been seeing the best action in the deeper parts of the lake. Most anglers are reporting average size trout from Trout Cove and other areas with most fish in the 1 to 2-pound range. The last stock was planted December 6 with 1200 pounds of rainbow trout. Dixon is planting another 1200 pounds of rainbows for the week of December 17???21.
The recent winter storms have turned the catfish bite ON!!! The catfish are hitting cut mackerel, night crawlers, and even on power bait. These fish ARE HUNGRY!!!! The "BEST" action is on the shoreline at the northeast corner of Whisker Bay and the Buoy line. The Buoy line is another HOT spot in the deeper parts of that area. Anglers are reporting near limits or limits with fish running up to 5 pounds. These grades of fish are running in the 2 to 4-pound class range.
Bass action was slower this week. Try fishing in the Boat Dock Cove areas and next to Pier #1 for the better action. No big bass have been reported in this week.
The repairs to Pier #4 have been completed this last week and are now open to the public.
