Fishing has still been slow this past week but people are catching some quality fish. There is a low front going in however that could be what it takes to turn these fish on. Bass are primarily being caught on high visibility baits such as spider baits, under-spins and bladed jigs. The crank bait bite has still been pretty good through the week when working them over heavy cover. Ambush points such as Cowles Point, Padre Point and San Carlos Point have been holding the most fish. But ti is very important that you work your baits that same direction as the current drifts. Bluegill fishing is improving and most of the large bluegill are being caught under the power lines in San Carlos Bay or in Alvarado Bay. The best baits for the bluegill have been crappie shiners, mealworms, redworms, waxwork and crickets.
