At Lake Havasu (report courtesy of John Galbraith, Bass Tackle Master), the striper bite has been good and anglers are experiencing some exciting morning topwater action from about 5-7:30 a.m. Fish can be found in good numbers from the north end of the Main Basin, south to Black Rock/California Bay. LuckyCraft Pointer 128/158s or pencil poppers are working well. Trolling and casting have been effective. Anglers using cut bait like anchovies or sardines are catching fish, too, but this method is producing smaller limits than using artificial lures.

Evening/night fishing for bigger channel and flathead catfish has been excellent. Best time is 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Use live sunfish or bluegills from 2.5" to 4" long rigged on a Carolina rig with 3/4 to 1-oz. sinkers and 12- to 15-pound test with a 24- to 36-inch leader. Redear fishing with nightcrawlers around submerged grass beds is producing some quality fish over 2 pounds
