The recent storms and continued high flows have slowed things here. The recent plants by DFWL were canceled and the next scheduled stocking is for Section 5 during the week of March 26th. In the Lower Kern, flows have increased over 3000CFS. Trout can be caught with salmon eggs, pinched crawlers and minijigs. The Lower Kern smallmouth bass bite is decent with small crankbaits, spinners and Senkos. Catfish can be taken with Dip baits and nightcrawlers. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River is flowing at 2934 CFS and the Lower Kern River is flowing at 3580 CFS.
