The North Fork Nehalem has hatchery steelhead throughout the fishery. The North Fork is a relatively small basin and as a result drops into shape quickly after rain events. Most of the hatchery run in this basin are early returning fish and started in December. A portion of the run, however, is from wild broodstock and those hatchery fish will continue to come in all the way through March.
The North Fork also gets a run of hatchery coho; that run is mostly done and the majority of coho left will be of poor quality.
