Colorado River - Laughlin - Laughlin, NV

The striper bite is going strong, with stripers being landed up and down the Colorado River. Whether you're fishing from shore or a boat, you have a great chance of landing a few of these fish. Even up on Lake Mohave, the bite is doing well. Reports indicate that stripers are being brought to the boat in the coves near and around the power lines and near the Davis Dam, with anchovies working well. Our local angler  Jim Rott from Mohave Valley landed a nice catch of striped bass while fishing in the Big Bend area along the shore of the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. The largest one weighed in at 7 pounds. There are a few smallmouth bass here along the river, but the best bet is up on Lake Mohave for these smallies. The bait of choice has been various plastics, and some gobies have been doing well.

There hasn't been much word about the panfish, and they seem to be back on their nests. The Topock Marsh area has been slow to report anything, likely due to the hot and muggy weather. This is a great time to get out there and catch a striper or two. Currently, the stripers are running in the smaller range, so lighter tackle will do well, but there are some larger fish to be had. Make sure to have a good knot and set your drag properly to catch fish.

Hope this helps for now. We look forward to seeing you soon to share your catch and your story. Now go catch a fish!
