Metolius is a Good Option With Hotter Temps

The Metolius has been fishing well. It is a good option with the hotter temps we’ve been having as it is a spring fed river that stays at a nice cold temperature year round. Golden stones can be found so using a clarks stone or stimulator with nymph or two as a dropper could be a great idea. As far as nymphs go, perdigons, pink bead hares ear, jigged leeches and pheasant tails have all been working great. Large streamers are always a great way to go for targeting bull trout and there are quite a few lake fish in the river already. Balanced leeches and stonefly nymphs can also be effective as well. If you're looking to do some dry fly, try to stick upstream of Canyon Creek and match the hatch as best you can; a good selection of caddis, PMDs and BWOs in a variety of sizes will go a long way.
