The Lower Deschutes is starting to really heat up, especially with the October Caddis making an appearance in the afternoons and evenings. Stonefly nymphs continue to be effective, and pairing them with perdigons or two bits can give you a solid edge. Steelhead are moving upstream, and now is a great time to target them as they start their fall migration. While sink tips and intruder patterns are recommended for steelhead, floating lines are still getting plenty of action. If you’re planning to book a steelhead trip, don’t wait—October dates are still available, but they’re filling up quickly!
