Nacimiento held at 55 percent of the lake’s storage capacity and fishing was good last week. Changing weather conditions put a damper on the bite early in the week, but anglers still cranked in plenty of bass on reaction and finesse baits. Drop shot, shaky heads, and darter head grubs took fish in the 10-to-20-foot zone, and topwater, underspins, and jerkbaits worked well in the mornings and evenings. The catfish bite slowed last week with fewer anglers sending in reports. Carolina rigged dip baits and cut mackerel are always reliable baits at Nacimiento. Crappie anglers target fish in the 10-to-20-foot zone with small live minnows and minijigs.
