Water levels fell to 79 percent of the lake’s storage capacity and water temperatures dropped to sixty degrees. Fishing was fair to good last week. Bass anglers reported fish holding in 15 to 30 feet of water with finesse techniques as the best way to get bites. Drop shot, Carolina rigs, and shaky heads in natural shad, green pumpkin, and ox blood fooled fish near rocky structure and along bluff walls. Striped bass fell for trolled umbrella rigs, streamer flies, and small swimbaits in 25 to 50 feet of water. Anglers also fooled striped bass with cut sardines, anchovies, and lugworms. Catfish picked up cut baits and dip bait in deeper coves around the lake.
