Rolling through Spring on the Truckee River.

Flows are up, but really not that high for May. 800-900 cfs up and down the canyons and into Reno. That's nothing for this time of year. 

Still high enough to fish the edges. Trouts are not out in fast water, or middle of the river. They hold tight to the banks ,or in softer water. Feed them something they can see, that stands out. Flies with hot spots, brighter beads, streamers etc.

We get the big dogs in the Spring. Use heavier tippet. Most of the time, this time of year, you'll have the whole river to yourself. Just you and some big brown trout.
