EAST WALKER RIVER

The East is running at about 128cfs right now and for most anglers is still fishing pretty well. We have had some slower reports from some anglers but most of the anglers we’ve talked with have done pretty well. It sounds like the lower stretch from the bridge to Murphy’s Pond has been the most productive and the Miracle Mile section is still a little bit in recovery mode. There have been a few fish being caught in the Mile but the numbers seem to be better down below. Nymphing has been the best technique lately and there’s still a few fish being caught with streamers. Some patterns to try: rainbow warrior, perdigon, copper John, silver streak, hare’s ear, darth baetis, sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, ziwi.

SCEIRINE RANCH

The ranch is still producing very well with reports coming in from anglers catching 5 to 15 fish per half day down there. Like the California side it’s been mostly nymphing with a few fish still being caught with streamers. The ranch is getting pretty booked up about 2 weeks in advance lately so if you want some time down there try to give us a call early.

The trespass fees for the ranch have been updated as of April 24, 2025 to $100 for a half day per angler and $125 for a full day per angler. Anglers are still limited to 4 per day. Anglers who booked time on the ranch calendar prior to April 24, 2025 will still be charged at the old price of $75 per half day and $100 per full day.  100% of the trespass fees go directly to the ranch, cash is preferred. If you need to use a credit/debit card a 3% administration fee will be charged.

HUNEWILL POND

The pond fished very well this week with reports coming in of 5 to 20 fish per half day, leeches and soft hackles seem to still be the main way to go out there. Some anglers are dropping nymphs and leeches off of indicators while others are having success stripping a leech/soft hackle combo. We didn’t hear any news about dries this week but sometimes that can be a good way to go as well, especially when the callibaetis are popping.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR

The reservoir was on fire this week! Trolling was excellent with lots of anglers reporting 20+ fish to the boat per day and the bait fishing off of Rainbow Point was off the hook with some anglers getting limits to the boat in less than an hour. The shore fishing wasn’t near as good as that this week though there were a few fish caught here and there with bait. Trollers have been using small Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants, needlefish and crawlers while bait anglers did well with night crawlers, pinched crawlers, garlic power bait and mice tails.

KIRMAN LAKE

We haven’t heard anything back from Kirman so far for the first day of the season but we’ll let you know when we hear anything.

TWIN LAKES

The Twins are still producing some very nice fish as well with reports coming in from anglers getting into some nice 3 to 5 pounders up there. Trolling has been good with Rapalas, KC lures, needlefish and Thomas Bouyants and bait fishing has been good with power bait, mice tails and inflated crawlers. We haven’t heard much about fly fishing up there lately but you would likely have some success with seal buggers, Twin Lakes Specials, matukas with soft hackle droppers.

WEST WALKER RIVER

We haven’t had much for reports on the West lately but we have heard that it has been intermittently high and dirty, it just depends on how warm it is during the day and how much snow is melting on a gived day. We’ll try to keep you informed as best we can on what’s going on up there.

VIRGINIA LAKES

Yesterday anglers reported to us that the ice is still pretty good at the Virginias although it is melting off near the inlets pretty fast. The fishing was good with bait casting near the edges of the ice. It sounds to me like it’s just about time to wait for the ice to be melted off all the way before going up there.
