Wohlford Lake Fishing Report

Wohlford Lake - Escondido, CA (San Diego County)

The Kimura’s won the May Whopper Contest with a 10.1 lbs. catfish and a 1.6 lbs. crappie! The catfish was caught with a crappie jig and the crappie was caught with a green mini jig.

Small to medium sized bass are being caught. The bass gravitate toward structure. The bass chase swimbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
 
Catfish are being caught in Boat Dock Cove off the second fishing pier. Catfish are being caught at both ends. Lake Wohlford cats prefer mackerel, shrimp, or chicken liver.
 
Crappie are in tight and being caught by boats drifting between Bass Point and Crappie Rock. Crappie are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs.
