Castaic Lake rose to approximately 96 percent of its storage capacity, with water temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. Bass fishing was very good, and many anglers reported impressive numbers. Effective techniques included drop shot, Carolina rigs, and Senkos, while small swimbaits and jerkbaits also fooled fish. Color choices that mimicked shad, such as grey and baitfish patterns, were especially productive. Striped bass were less active, with only occasional catches on jerkbaits or cut bait presentations. Catfish anglers caught fish using chicken liver, dip bait, and cut sardines.
