Lake Tahoe is fishing well this week with surface temperatures ranging from 52–58°F, warming to the low 60s nearshore by the weekend. Early mornings offer calm conditions, ideal for trolling deep (80–120 ft) with spoons or tube jigs for Mackinaw. Anglers are reporting solid catches of Mackinaws in the 3–8 lb range, with some up to 15+ lbs. Near creek inlets, drifting nightcrawlers or casting Kastmasters is producing rainbows and browns up to 20 inches. Fly anglers are finding success at dawn and dusk using olive leeches and Woolly Buggers. Light hatches of midges, BWOs, PMDs, and caddis are appearing throughout the day. Focus on early and late bite windows, target drop-offs and inlets, and bring both CA and NV fishing licenses.
