Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of June 16th! The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of July 7th. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked. The lake is now open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays!
What’s the Catch?
Catfish: Catfish action has been solid, especially in the early evenings and after dark. Fishermen are having luck near Hermit Cove, Eagle Point, and Shadow Cove using mackerel, chicken liver, and dip baits. With warmer water temps, the cats are cruising shallow areas just before sunset.
Bass: Bass are active in the early morning hours near submerged structure and canyons at the t-dock and Half Moon Cove. Topwater lures are getting hits in the morning and soft plastics like Senkos are productive throughout the day.
Redear Sunfish: Redear are biting well near the tules and grassy shallows. Use nightcrawlers or redworms under a bobber. Try fishing Half Moon Cove and the shoreline at the campground.
Water clarity is fair, and surface temps are rising, so get out early or stay late for the best fishing. Night fishing is a great option this time of year!
Conditions: The current water temperature is 72 degrees at the surface. The aerator has been turned on, so the dissolved oxygen content is well mixed. The days are getting longer with the sun rising at 5:45 a.m. and setting at 8:00 p.m.
