Phillips Reservoir is about 55% full and draining. District staff sampled Phillips Reservoir on June 12th. Catch was primarily composed of yellow perch. The perch that we collected had an average length of almost 6 inches and a max length of around 8 inches. The larger perch were observed on the western portion of the reservoir. We also encountered smallmouth bass, which had an average length of 7 inches and a max length of 19.5 inches.
Recently, anglers have been catching tiger muskies in Phillips Reservoir that were stocked last year. They have grown nicely and are now around 24 inches. They were planted to help control small perch that are overly abundant. Any tiger muskies caught cannot be harvested and must be released.
