Fishing has been good on the Crooked River, and the mix of patterns right now makes for some fun days on the water. Balanced scuds are producing well under an indicator, especially in slower runs and along deeper edges. Caddis activity has been solid, with fish looking up in the afternoons and evenings—Elk Hair Caddis and X Caddis are both worth having in your box. Subsurface, midges are still a staple, with Zebra Midges in red, olive, and black getting plenty of attention. A number of anglers have been reporting some larger-than-average fish in the net lately, making this a great time to get out and enjoy one of Central Oregon’s most reliable summer fisheries.
