Current Water Conditions

The Feather River continues to fish well despite lower flows. Water clarity is good, and the river has been recently stocked through town near all the bridges, which is keeping the action lively.

Water Temperatures

Warm summer temperatures holding steady around 75°F.

Hatches

Caddisflies are appearing sporadically throughout the day. With the warmer weather, hatches are minimal, but expect rising fish in the mornings and evenings.

Effective Tactics

Rooster Tails and Panther Martins remain top lure choices, especially in red, yellow, black, and mixed color patterns that stand out in the current. Fly anglers are also finding success with Yellow Humpies, Parachute Adams, Copper Johns, Pheasant Tail nymphs, and black caddis. One of the most productive strategies right now is to target creek confluences, where the cooler inflows bring oxygen and food into the system, drawing fish into these pockets.

Fly Box Must-Haves

Black Caddis, Yellow Humpies, Copper Johns, Pheasant Tail Nymphs
