Stocking: Trout Opener was last weekend where 2,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout were stocked! The next stocking of 1,500 pounds will be the week of December 1st. The lake will be regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout from about mid November to April. In sum, we will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season with some additional stockings from DFW. 

What’s the Catch? The long-awaited trout season has officially kicked off and opening weekend delivered excellent action for anglers of all ages. The fish wasted no time spreading out and biting across multiple coves/shorelines. Anglers reported success in Hermit Cove, the t-dock, and the shoreline around the t-dock. After the rain, anglers were catching limits near the runoff in Hermit Cove. PowerBait in rainbow, garlic chartreuse, and orange were encouraging bites as well as mini jigs in white and pink. Nightcrawlers floated off of the bottom and Hookup Baits in orange and yellow varieties were also working for trout. Sounds like the hungry stock were biting on just about everything. With all of the trout noise, we didn’t hear much from bass and catfish fishermen, but join us for nightfishing this Saturday and take advantage of the sunrise and sunset bite.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 71 degrees. The aerator has been turned off for the season. The district has been filling the lake at rate of nearly 30 million gallons a day. The days are getting shorter with the sun rising at 7:04 a.m. and setting at 5:59 p.m.
