Pyramid Lake remained near full pool with water temperatures around 78 degrees. Most anglers targeted striped bass along with small and largemouth bass in Serrano Cove after the lake opened. By 9 or 10 a.m., the striped bass bite shifted to mid-lake, where anglers reported catching more small fish than they could count. Espetits, riser baits, and poppers all produced bites, but the key to landing bigger striped bass was sorting through numerous smaller ones before hooking into a five- to ten-pounder. Bass anglers noted very fat fish holding in the grass, with Texas rigs and crankbaits fooling both largemouth and smallmouth. Bass were also found tight to shore along bluff walls. Catfishing proved tough from shore due to heavy weeds, but boat anglers scored well in Yellowbar using cut sardines and chicken liver.
