While we are seeing a lot of fish school up in shallow water and become mostly lock-jawed as they head into spawn, this week’s storm has turned the bite back on for a few short days. Conditions earlier this week were fantastic. We would bet dollars to doughnuts that the warm days expected early next week will slow this bite to a near crawl and you’d be much better off fishing the river. That said, if you are planning to head out here this week, we would recommend heading to one of those shallower sand bottom beaches. Try setting up a ladder and focusing on stripping at beaches such as the Nets, Windless Bay or up north at Warrior Point. This will typically be a good way to get into a few of those cruisers when the sun is high and the wind is low.
