Spring Chinook fishing has been fair to slow in Tillamook Bay over the past week with moderate numbers of fish getting caught both in lower bay and south channel as well as in the upper bay near the Memaloose boat ramp and even up into the Trask and Tillamook channels. Trolling herring is a go-to technique for the lower bay, especially out by the jetty's while in the upper bay spinners, plugs, and bobber fishing can also be effective. Fishing should continue to improve throughout the rest of the month and June, with the rivers being extremely low springers should start stacking up in the bay.

Trout season opens in the rivers and bays on May 22nd. There probably won't be much for coastal cutthroat fishing opportunity in the bay yet, but by next month some sea-run cutthroat should start showing up.
