Ash Canyon Road to Hobart Reservoir is now OPEN for the season!
Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space opened Ash Canyon Road last week, and anglers are already enjoying the beautiful spring fishing at Hobart!
A few reminders:
- The road is narrow, one-lane, and very rugged. Expect steep grades, tight turns, dangerous drop-offs, and rough tread in places.
- High-clearance 4x4 vehicles only — no trailers.
- Use low gear when descending and avoid riding your brakes.
- Watch for pedestrians and bicycles.
- Check the weather — rain or snow can create dangerous conditions.
Motorized access ends after 4.5 miles. Park and walk a half-mile to reach Hobart Reservoir.
Seasonal Note: The road is typically open from Memorial Day through October, but always check the Carson City Parks website for updates: //carson.org/ashcanyonroad
Tight lines and safe travels
