Current Water Conditions

Flows are holding steady around 550–600 CFS between Stampede and Boca. While the flows are still elevated, the fishing is great. Water is crystal clear and cold, offering solid visibility for sight-fishing. Wade cautiously—especially near the willows and deeper channels where footing is tricky.

Water Temperatures

Sitting in the low-50s°F—perfect for active summer trout behavior and consistent bug life.

Hatches

Late-morning through early-afternoon hatches continue to be strong. PMDs are dominant, with Green Drakes, BWOs, and Midges rounding out the buffet. Terrestrials like ants and beetles are also in the mix and can be effective near grassy banks and back eddies. On the cloudy days, expect large hatches of midges and blue-winged olives.

Effective Tactics

Tightline nymphing remains your best bet in fast seams and structure. Use subtle patterns like Juju Baetis, Zebra Midges, and small Pheasant Tails. During hatch windows, switch to dry flies and fish with long (13 feet), fine leaders using 5x/6x tippet and fish the slower seams. PMDs and Green Drake adults are top producers. In the evening, swing soft hackles or mini streamers near undercut banks and deep riffles for aggressive takes.

Catch Report

Anglers are seeing steady action on fish ranging from 14–18", with several 20"+ browns reported on dry flies. Best success has come to those with stealth and patience.
