Current Water Conditions

Flows are stable at around 445 CFS between Stampede and Boca. While still elevated, conditions remain favorable for experienced anglers. The water is cold and crystal clear—perfect for sight-fishing, but wading remains tricky near willows and deeper slots, so move carefully.

Water Temperatures

Thanks to its tailwater origin, water temperatures are ideal, sitting in the low 50s°F. This supports healthy bug activity and keeps trout feeding steadily throughout the day.

Hatches

Midday hatches remain reliable. PMDs are the standout, with supporting casts of Green Drakes, BWOs, and Midges. Terrestrials—especially ants and beetles—are turning heads near grassy edges and back eddies. Cloud cover will trigger strong midge and BWO hatche

Effective Tactics

Tightline nymphing continues to dominate, especially around structure and fast seams. Subtle patterns like Juju Baetis, Zebra Midges, and small Pheasant Tails are top producers. During hatch windows, go long and light—13 ft leaders with 5x or 6x tippet—for dry fly success in slower water. Evenings offer opportunities for swinging soft hackles and mini streamers along undercut banks.

Catch Report

Anglers are hooking up consistently with fish ranging from 14–18", and several 20”+ browns have been landed on dries. Stealth, accurate presentations, and patience are key for success.
