Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of June 16th! The lake has been stocked with another 1,000 pounds this week. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked.
What’s the Catch?
Peak action for catfish begins at dusk and continues into the night. We’re stocking the weeks of July 7th and July 28th so plan visits around those dates to take advantage of fresh fish. Focus efforts in the evening and early mornings, using shrimp, mackerel, or garlic nightcrawlers. Fish from a boat if possible—to reach deeper 15–25 foot zones near buoys and drop-offs. Try multiple coves: Hermit, Shadow, Half Moon, and Eagle Point are all holding fish. If fishing from shore, try the t-dock or Siesta Cove. Be patient and keep your bait on the bottom especially at sunset.
Conditions: The current water temperature is 72 degrees at the surface. The aerator has been turned on, so the dissolved oxygen content is well mixed. The sun is rising at 5:49 a.m. and setting at 7:58 p.m. The next new moon is July 24th, so it’ll be nice and dark for night fishing Friday, July 25th.
