Castaic Lake remained near 94% of its storage capacity, with water temperatures in the upper 70s and an emerging algae bloom spreading throughout the lake. One to two pound large and smallmouth bass stole the show, offering strong topwater action with riser baits, Espetits, and Sammys producing 20-plus fish days. As the morning progressed, small finesse baits became effective in the 10 to 20-foot range, while Senkos and crankbaits also continued to draw strikes. Striped bass remained stubborn, though a few were caught on topwater, and catfish bit on dip baits and chicken liver for shoreline anglers.
