The Fall has been offering solid fishing windows for those willing to adjust with the conditions. Morning and late afternoon hatches of PMDs and Caddis are keeping dry fly anglers busy, with Purple Hazes, Elk Hair Caddis, and PMD emergers all producing. Subsurface, midges remain a staple along with small Pheasant Tail nymphs and balanced leeches—especially mini jig leeches for working the deeper pools. If things slow down, don’t be afraid to strip small streamers through the softer seams; the bigger fish have been chasing. The river was recently stocked, adding to the mix of fish you’ll encounter.
