The season on the Fall is winding up, but you can still get on fish if you know where to look. Watch the weather as it can be quite cold and windy. Fish downstream and you can find fish that will eat leeches. This is typically when we see Blue Wing Olive hatches and the last of the Tricos, Callibaetis and PMDs of the season. There are a ton of BWO dries, Norman's Loopwing and the Hackle Stacker are both fine flies. Small #18 S&M nymphs in black and olive will get fish eating subsurface. For the Tricos, the Drowned Trico and CDC Trico Spinner are good choices. Baetis and Callibaetis nymphs under the Fathead Moth is a good combination when the fish aren't rising. Strip Pine Squirrel Leeches and Water Boatmen in the mid-day and afternoons. If you would like to set up a day on the Fall, give a call Bryan in Outfitters at 800-669-3474 to set up a trip!
