Spring is a time of increased activity at Bullock. Spring spawns and insect emergence speeds up as ice comes off of the reservoir. Vegetation will be coming out of dormancy, and the weather is often mild, with infrequent rainshowers. There are chances that cold fronts creep back into the area. As the water opens up, fish activity speeds up around the weedy shore beds. Larger tiger muskie will be found traversing these edges in search of forage fish, spending the rest of their time mingling in the deeper middle waters. Mid-sized forage fish lures provide the best possibility for catching sizable tiger muskie. Imitation yellow perch, rainbow trout and panfish are the most successful varieties. Please remember to practice proper catch-and-release techniques on all tiger muskie, and all muskies under 40 inches must immediately be released (limit one tiger muskie over 40 inches).
