Anglers report eight to 12 inches of ice, depending on the location. Fishing has been sporadic, but most anglers are catching trout in five to seven feet of water. You can catch chubs more frequently in slightly deeper water. Anglers are using a variety of rigs, including jigs, tube jigs, spoons, ice flies and spinners. White, orange, chartreuse, yellow and silver are the most common colors. Try using baits like chub meat, nightcrawlers, PowerBait, mealworms, dead minnows or Velveta cheese. Most of the rainbow trout range from 10 to 12 inches. Cutthroats can get up to 19 inches, but they typically run from 10 to 12 inches.
