The lake rose to 80 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures moved into the low sixties. Warmer stable weather kicked off an amazing bass bite at Castaic with some anglers reporting 30 plus fish days. Slim Pros, Senkos, drop shot, and Carolina rigs all fooled fish. Bass held in 5 to 20 feet of water with many fish on beds. Good colors included baby bass, shad, green pumpkin, and Aaron’s Magic. Small swimbaits and jerkbaits also fooled plenty of fish. The striped bass bite picked up for bait anglers with fish taking cut sardines in 25 to 50 feet of water. Catfish went after cut baits and chicken liver on the long soak.
