In the Upper Kern River the warmer weather has raised the flows a bit

In the Upper Kern River the warmer weather has raised the flows a bit, but they are still ideal and holding just above 1000 CFS. Anglers have been scoring trout with split-shotting salmon eggs, minijigs, Gulp Pinched Crawlers and trout worms. Fly anglers have been doing well with nymphs, stripping streamers and dry flies in the afternoon. This week the Upper Kern was stocked by CDFW in sections 4, 5 and 6. In the Lower Kern trout have been caught with salmon eggs, Gulp pinched crawlers and minijigs. The Spring bass bite is going strong in the Lower Kern with jigs, worms, and small crankbaits. Catfish can be found with sardines and Triple S Dip Bait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River is flowing at 1094 CFS and the Lower Kern River is flowing at 413 CFS.

California Aqueduct: Warmer weather brought out plenty of anglers, and reports indicated an improved bite
Castaic Lake: The lake rose to 77 percent of its storage capacity and water temperatures moved into the upper fifties and low sixties
Pyramid Lake, CA: Pyramid Lake remained near full capacity, with water temperatures rising into the mid to high 50s
Lake Isabella: This week Isabella Lake increased to 39 percent of its storage capacity
Kern River: In the Upper Kern, the trout action has slowed a bit
Lake Kaweah: Kaweah is filling rapidly with water levels rising to 35 percent of the lake’s storage capacity
Lake Success: The lake remained near 46 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has been solid
River Walk Lakes: Here at River Walk it’s been a couple weeks since the last trout stocking
Ming Lake: The boat drags last weekend helped congregate the fish and move them into the shallows
Buena Vista Lakes: Fishing at BV was solid, with largemouth bass quickly becoming the primary target for most anglers
Hart Park Lake: The bass bite at Hart Part took off last week with anglers fooling fish on a variety of baits and colors
Lake Nacimiento: The lake rose slightly to 69 percent of its storage capacity and fishing has been good
