The CDFW continue to stock the Upper Kern and river flows are ideal. All three sections in both Kern and Tulare County were stocked this week. Trout fishing has been very good throughout the 20-mile stretch along the easy access points and deep pools. Conventional anglers are scoring with spinners, trout worms and salmon eggs. Fly anglers have had steady action with attractor nymphs and streamers in the usual spots. The Upper Kern was stocked this week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge, and Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. In the Lower Kern, the CDFW stocked all three sections in the Canyon two weeks ago. The following sections were stocked, Section 1, Democrat Beach to Lower Richbar; Section 2, Sandy Flat to Democrat Beach, and Section 3, Sandy Flat to Isabella Dam. The trout action has been very good in the canyon, and they can be found with salmon eggs, GULP Pinched Crawlers, Chartreuse garlic Powerbait and spinners. The Lower Kern bass action is solid on soft plastics, jigs, and crankbaits. Catfish can be found with cutbait, nightcrawlers and SSS Dip Bait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 1825 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 1096 CFS.
