Lake Isabella is currently sitting at around 64% capacity. Fishing at Isabella Lake continues to produce solid action for anglers targeting both bass and catfish. The water level remains steady, and temperatures are holding between 72°F and 75°F, keeping fish active in both shallow and deeper water. Largemouth bass are biting well, particularly in the early morning and late evening hours. Anglers have been finding success near Rocky Point, the South Fork, and around structure in the 3 Crosses area. Green pumpkin creature baits, chatterbaits, and Rapala jerkbaits are the go-to lures right now. Some larger bass have also been reported hitting big swimbaits near submerged rocks and drop-offs. The catfish bite has picked up, especially in the evening. The Lime Dyke and Engineer’s Point have been producing nice fish on cut baits, dip baits, and nightcrawlers. Shore anglers and boaters alike are getting in on the action. Crappie reports have slowed a bit, but anglers using small jigs or minnows around submerged brush in 10–15 feet of water are still finding a few decent slabs. The most productive areas have been at both Camp 9 and Reds Marina. The trout bite remains solid in and around the North Fork. Anglers reported trout with chartreuse Keitechs, Hook Up Bait’s and spinners. Trollers have done very well with Flicker Shad and Tasmanian Devils.
