The Upper Kern continues to produce steady action for both holdover and wild trout along the 20-mile stretch. Section 4 received a CDFW plant two weeks ago, and anglers are finding trout in deeper pools and slower eddies near river bends. Yellow or gold bead head nymphs, salmon eggs, and small trout jigs have been working well. On the Lower Kern, bass fishing has been strong in the canyon and around Democrat, with fish biting Zman and Crush City Ned rigs, small crankbaits, and Roboworms on the drop shot. Catfish are also being caught on nightcrawlers, chicken liver, and cut bait. Current flows are 204 CFS on the Upper Kern at Kernville and 526 CFS on the Lower Kern.
