We’re hoping for some rainbow trout soon, but in the meantime it’s all about the stripers up on Lake Mohave. Trolling, casting, or using anchovies for bait fishing is all producing fish.

Our local angler Dirk Sloan and his wife Jane went out for a boat ride on the lake. They had their visiting daughter Amy and grandma Joan Ransberger on board. Dirk decided to try a swimbait that he and some friends have been working on—and yes, this homemade lure produced well. The longer fish measured 31 inches and weighed 8.3 pounds, while the 28.5-inch striper weighed in at 9.74 pounds. A great catch! Amy had to leave the next day after coming in for her mom’s birthday, so it made for a really nice family outing.

Other anglers are also having great luck landing stripers on Lake Mohave. Whether they’re chasing boils of shad or just trolling, the bite has been good. Along our shores here, it’s been a bit slow, with some smaller stripers being picked up in various spots—mostly in the evenings.

Hope this helps for now, and we look forward to seeing you come in to share your catch and your story. Thanks for the support, and let’s see some trout soon!
