Access to Solomon Basin typically opens up from Emery County in mid-to-late April. Access over the pass from Highway 72 usually opens up in late April to mid-May. The higher lakes around the base of Flat Top usually aren't accessible until late May. Spring can provide some of the best fishing of the year for hungry trout just waking up from winter sluggishness. A variety of tackle and techniques can provide good fishing. Consult the Thousand Lake Mountain entry on the Fish Utah map for more fishing tips and techniques.
