Pine Valley Reservoir - Pine Valley , Utah

Lake Information

Fish Species: Rainbow Trout, Tiger Trout
Pine Valley Reservoir, located in Dixie National Forest near St. George, is a small, scenic lake ideal for seasonal trout fishing. At 6,600 feet elevation, this 10-acre reservoir stays cool during the summer and is stocked regularly with rainbow trout by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

Rainbow trout are the main catch, with most fish averaging 10–13 inches. Bait anglers use PowerBait and worms, while fly anglers find success with leech and chironomid patterns from shore or float tubes. Fishing is best in spring and early summer, with additional action in fall depending on stocking schedules.

Boats are not allowed, but float tubes, kayaks, and canoes are welcome. The adjacent Pine Valley Campground provides restrooms and well-maintained sites, making this an ideal family getaway.

Fishing regulations follow general Utah rules with a four-trout daily limit. Access is seasonal, typically open from late May to October.

Pine Valley Reservoir offers reliable, easy-to-access trout fishing in a quiet forested setting and is one of southern Utah’s best small-lake options for beginners and relaxed outings.
