Fishing forecast (March–May): Spring thaws in the area may take a long time to open the Current Creek Canyon. Mountain access is usually open Memorial Day weekend. Spring in the mountains is a time of great change, and cold weather and turbulent conditions will persist deep into the season. Snow, hail and strong winds are possible throughout the Current Creek area. Fishing the ice-off at Currant Creek can be phenomenal for multiple species. Currant Creek Reservoir offers diverse fishing for Colorado River cutthroat trout, tiger trout, rainbow trout, mountain whitefish and an occasional brook trout.
