Bass anglers reported good to excellent fishing, with an outstanding topwater bite that produced more small bass than some could count on walking baits, poppers, and prop-style lures. Drop-shot rigs, curly-tailed grubs, and Ned rigs also performed well for fish holding deeper on main and secondary points, with shad, bluegill, and green pumpkin patterns all producing strikes. White bass joined in on the topwater action and also hit trolled and cast white or silver spoons and in-line spinners. Crappie anglers picked up a few fish near submerged structure using small live minnows and mini jigs. Catfish were taken by shore anglers on Carolina rigged fresh shrimp, cut baits, and chicken liver.
