The lake remained near max capacity with water temperatures in the mid-70s. Castaic has consistently produced good numbers of largemouth and smallmouth bass in the one to three-pound range. Finesse baits like the C3 Shimmy and Yamamoto Shad Shaped Worm stuck bass from 5 to 20 feet deep. Rocky shores and bluff walls were good areas to target biting bass. Shad-imitating colors have dominated the bite over the last few months. Surface activity picked up for both bass and striper, with riser-style baits leading the way. Poppers and walking baits also fooled fish. Catfish anglers used dead shad and cut sardines for good results in deeper coves around the lake.
