At Ming Lake there are boat races scheduled for this weekend, and the water is finally rising. The bass bite has slowed, and anglers are having to work a bit harder to connect. Wacky rigs in natural colors have been producing the most consistent action, while big swimbaits such as Mag Drafts and Cull Shads remain the best option for targeting larger fish. A slow-dragged Zoom lizard on a Texas rig has also been picking up bites. Catfish are active around dusk, hitting cut baits, chicken liver, and SSS Dip Bait. Bluegill fishing has been excellent with live worms fished near the weed beds. Crappie have been showing in the late afternoon on live shiners or crappie jigs.
