Pyramid Lake jumped into one of the top spots this week. A 5,000-pound trout plant kept anglers busy with steady one- to three-pound rainbows. Minijigs, dough baits, spinners, and spoons all filled stringers around the marina. Bass anglers reported excellent topwater action early, shifting to solid finesse bites once the sun climbed. Poppers, Lucky Craft Gunfish, and Espetits were the go-to baits. Striped bass boiled throughout the day, and anglers hammered them with topwater lures, small jerkbaits, Flukes, and spoons. Trolling umbrella rigs has been effective for weeks now as well. Catfish reports were slow as most people chased the more active species.
