With the increased summer boat traffic, anglers did best by hitting the lake as early as possible and focusing on heavy cover. Pitching creature baits, weedless frogs, and wacky Senkos into the cattails was the best way to hook up. Anglers also reported some action on spinnerbaits in those same areas. Catfish anglers used garlic nightcrawlers and dip bait to catch plenty of smaller-grade fish. The crappie bite took a hit with the warmer water and boat traffic, but some anglers found biting schools on the backside of the islands, with small live minnows and mini jigs working for bites.
