Lake Isabella has dropped slightly to 38 percent of capacity, but overall fishing remains solid. Bass are being found in 5 to 25 feet of water with the reaction bite going strong, and several fish over 5 pounds were reported this week. Crawfish-imitating plastics on Texas rigs, jigs, deep crankbaits, and dark-colored brush hogs or lizards have been producing good numbers. As the day warms, anglers are switching to 6–9 inch Texas-rigged worms in purple, Aaron’s Magic, or red craw, targeting 15 to 25 feet off points. Catfish action has been excellent, especially around Camp 9 and French Gulch, with SSS Dip Bait, shrimp, and mackerel all working well. Crappie fishing continues to be very good offshore with mini jigs, Keitechs, and live shiners. Steady catches are coming from Red’s Marina, Engineers, South Fork, and French Gulch. One angler reported quality action on fish up to 2 pounds around structure in 20 to 25 feet of water in the South Fork area. No trout reports have come in this week.
