Fishing at Ming Lake has been holding steady, especially during the cooler parts of the day. The bass bite has ranged from fair to good, with the most consistent action taking place in the early morning and late afternoon. Anglers have been reporting a solid topwater frog bite around first light, particularly near vegetation and shallow cover. As the sun rises, bass are moving tighter to structure, and anglers have been flipping creature baits and soft plastics near the reeds with success. Later in the day, switching to reaction baits like crankbaits, Chatterbaits, or swimbaits has helped trigger bites in slightly deeper water and around drop-offs. The bluegill bite remains excellent, especially along the shallows and docks. Live bait like red worms, mealworms, or wax worms fished under a bobber or on a split-shot rig have produced nonstop action, making this a great option for kids and beginners. Though not wide open, a few crappie have been picked up along the backside of the lake on mini jigs, small crankbaits, and tiny swimbaits in shad colors.
