In the Upper Kern, flows are low and anglers are having to work a bit harder to find fish. The CDFW have scheduled a trout plant next week in Section 4, Riverside in Kernville to Powerhouse #3. Fly anglers are reporting the best success on dry-dropper rigs with a Yellow Sallie nymph on the bottom. Trout are also being caught on salmon eggs, crickets, and Panther Martins. In the Lower Kern, trout have been caught in the canyon on trout jigs and Panther Martins. Both largemouth and smallmouth bass are being hooked on small plastics, Get Bent baits, and spinnerbaits. Catfish action has been steady with nightcrawlers, chicken liver, and cut bait. At the time of reporting, flows were at 306 CFS on the Upper Kern River at Kernville and 564 CFS on the Lower Kern.
