The Bakersfield Firefighters 13th Annual Trout Derby and Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for November 22, 2025. More than a thousand pounds of lightning and rainbow trout, reaching up to 5 pounds, will be stocked for the event. The angler who catches the lowest tagged trout will win the $1,000 grand prize. At River Walk, bass activity has been on the rise, with fish biting most consistently during the early morning and late evening hours. Effective baits include small flukes, Ned rigs, shad-style plastics on drop shot, and green pumpkin Senkos. Bluegill are also being caught at both lakes on wax worms and red worms.
